The Scottish Orienteering Association’s latest Regular Orienteering Mapping Programme (ROMP) course has been laid out at Inschriach North, which is south of Aviemore.

November and December have been busy months, as we have seen a BIG increase in our coaching team with new Level 1 & 2, Controllers and Tutor Foundation graduates.

Inverness Orienteering Club’s Oscar Shepherd has been awarded the Young Volunteer of the Year for 2019 at the Highland Coaching, Officiating and Volunteer Awards.

To enhance the Scottish Orienteering Young Leaders award further, the Scottish Orienteering Association is now a proud ambassador of the Saltire Award. The award is the Scottish Government’s way of celebrating, recognising and rewarding the commitment, contribution and achievements of young volunteers in Scotland, aged between 12 and 25.

Scottish Orienteering is keen to explore ways of improving its inclusivity to help support anyone to participate in the sport. On Saturday, 16^th November, we hosted a workshop where the development team and other interested club orienteers got together with experts who work with youngsters with autism.

In addition to the Junior Inter Areas, the second weekend of November also hosted the Scottish University Championships. Teams from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and Aberdeen enjoyed a weekend of competition with relays at Scolty Woods on the Saturday and individuals at Cambus O’May on the Sunday.

More than 100 juniors from all over Scotland converged on Deeside for the annual Scottish Junior Inter Areas, on the weekend of November 9th & 10th. Teams from the North, East and West battled it out over a weekend of competition and fun with relays on the Saturday and individual races on the Sunday.

Following a highly successful year, Megan Keith (INVOC) has been awarded the accolade of Scottish Young Sportswoman of the Year at the Scottish Women in Sport awards ceremony last week.

In celebration of 2019 being the 21st Year of The Glasgow Parks Champs / 3 Parks In 1 Day event, STAG Orienteering Club is introducing a new Team Sprint Relay – named DU’O’ – on Saturday 30 November.
