Some amazing athletes and volunteer efforts at the Junior European Championships

This month the Junior European Championship (JEC) took place in Stirling and the Trossachs. Many of you will have seen the many British Orienteering Federation posts but for those of you who didn’t there were some Scottish junior performances and of course our amazing volunteer efforts which deserve to be highlighted. Not only had the volunteers lead by the lead organiser, Jason Inman of Forth Valley Orienteers (FVO) taken on the challenge of hosting JEC with races for spectators but they had also adding the Veteran Home Internationals (VHIs) to the mix.

Europe’s finest juniors fight it out in Scotland

After 9 years the Junior European Cup (JEC) returns to Scotland on the 3-5th October. 

The Sprint returns to the campus of Stirling University on the afternoon of Friday 3rd October. Nine year ago Sweden and Switzerland claimed most of the podium spots but GBR’s Laura King, Cecilie Anderson and Harrison McCartney were all tantalisingly close in 4th place (W18, W20 and M18 competitions). Can the GB Juniors selected do better this year?

More Selection Success for Scottish Juniors

Following the British Championships, Northern Championships and the JK, Scottish Juniors across a range of ages have been selected for international competition and a range of training camps. The performance of all the Scottish juniors at these events was fantastic with some very tough competition from juniors from the rest of the UK and Europe.  It was great to see the breadth of Scottish junior talent as well as the fun and friendship they gain from the sport.
