Success for North at 2024 Junior InterAreas!

Juniors from all over Scotland headed north for this year’s junior interarea competition that took place on the weekend of 26/27th November. The North, East and West fielded their strongest teams and battled it out over a relay on the Saturday and the individual on the Sunday, with West hoping to retain their title from last year.

Veteran Home International 2017

The Veteran Home International was held in conjunction with Basoc’s Highland WOLF weekend. Back on home turf with the strongest team for a few years, the Scots were hoping to have a stronger challenge for the title than in the last few years. Read More…

A fantastic weekend of student orienteering

The student orienteering community came together with great spirit on the weekend of 8-9 November for the Scottish Student Champs 2025 (run alongside the ESOA Champs), hosted by Edinburgh University Orienteering Club at the tricky Loch Katrine on Saturday and the lovely woods at Falls of Leny on Sunday.

In challenging conditions — as often is the case with orienteering in November — participants showed resilience and camaraderie. Whether you were a seasoned competitor or a newcomer experiencing your first student champs, it was fantastic to see such a wide range of students take on the challenge.

Competitors expressed that they got much enjoyment from the weekend, and were grateful for the overnight accommodation that was provided as this encouraged more social engagement between teams. The areas were physically demanding and technically difficult so proved a real challenge for everyone taking part.

FVO work hard to claim the 2022 Jamie Stevenson Trophy

After missing a couple of years due to covid, it was great to see lots of smiling faces on Moncreiffe Hill yesterday for the 2022 Jamie Stevenson Trophy.

Twelve clubs from across Scotland brought teams along to enjoy this junior inter club competition.  The sun shone and there were smiles all round for the club parade started off the event.

Cumbernauld sprints through another great Championship weekend

Following on from the successful WEST Area Scottish Championships weekend, St Andrew’s Orienteering Club of Glasgow (STAG) treated us all to the combination of the Scottish Sprint Championship and the 3rd event of 2026 Scottish Orienteering Urban League calendar based in the classic urban challenge of Cumbernauld.

SOA Event levies 2018

The board reserves the right to propose changes to event levies or memberships at a future date, depending upon the results of this trial and any other factors which become relevant. If it becomes necessary to propose a change to the levy rate, this will be brought forward to the AGM in the usual way.

Scots head to World Cup in Finland

The weekend marks the start of the international orienteering season, with the first World Cup races of 2019 to be held in Finland. Great Britain are taking a team of 11 athletes, including the Scots Jo Sheperd, Jess Halliday, Alasdair McLeod, Hector Haines and Alexander Chepelin.

Junior Inter Areas Competition 2017

The Junior Inter Area competition is an annual competition where the 3 areas in Scotland (North, West and East) compete during a relay and individual event to see which area will come out on top. This year the relays were hosted at Dechmont Law alongside the Scottish Orienteering Urban League event and the individual at Drummond Hill using the final Scottish Orienteering League event of the year.
