Well winter has arrived, and caused the last event of the 2022 Inter-Club Championships to be cancelled, but it did not stop our volunteer, Steve Scott, preparing the final Inter- Club Championship tables of 2022. See all the details in  2022 Scottish Inter Club Championship Table 

With the excitements of the Scottish Junior Team winning the Junior Home Internationals last weekend it would be easy to overlook the effect the Loch Vaa Middle Event and Creag Dubh SOL6 has on the Inter-Club Championship tables. The tables have been updated and it is great to see Glasgow and Stirling Universities making their first entry into the small club division.

The 35th Tinto twin event and the 3rd Nox and Dies event held by St Andrew’s Orienteering Club (Glasgow) (STAG) was the final event of the 2024 Scottish Inter Club Championship.

The Scottish Inter Club Championships allows clubs to compete against each other over 12 events through the year. Events area selected to ensure a geographical spread and the event is subdivided into not only senior and junior divisions but also large and small clubs.

This year, the Large clubs senior division was retained by Forth Valley Orienteers (FVO) but it was a close rivalry with Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club (ESOC) who saw their best result at the Tinto Twin event but it was not enough to displace FVO from the top spot. Interlopers Orienteering Club (INT) were lying in third with the northern clubs Inverness Orienteering Club (INVOC) and Moravian Orienteering Club (MOR) having a tussle for 4th and 5th position.

Our volunteers, Paul Hammond and Paul Caban, have been working hard collating all the results from this year’s SOL and SOUL events. We are very grateful for all their hard work and that of all the volunteers and clubs who made the events of 2022 happen.

Congratulations to all new champions, and especially to Cat Taylor (W21E) and Scott Fraser (M21E) both of whom will be heading to Switzerland this summer for the World Championships, confident of doing themselves justice following a string of good results.

The Scotland team for this September’s Veteran Home Internationals is set to be selected using the results of regional and national orienteering events across the country.

Results have been compiled and we can publish the trophy and medal winners from the Scottish Night Championships. Congratulations to all the medal winners and to those taking home the coveted titles of Scottish Night Champions!

As there were 11 events in the series, the best five results counted for the overall score.

After five years of coordinating the SOUL series from its inception in 2012 as a regional offshoot of the NOPESPORT (now UKUL) Urban League,  SOUL coordinator Andy Paterson (CLYDE) handed over the reins to Pat Squire (INT).

This was the 10th anniversary of the Edinburgh University Orienteering Club’s Big Weekend, although this year “Huge Weekend” might be a better name. There were 4 events, over 750 runners and nearly 2000 runs. Read More…
