Sunday saw the East Area Junior training sessions get off to a flying start.

Another group of Young Coach Assistants has just completed their training, this time at Glenmore Lodge.  The weather, which had threatened to be absolutely foul, was kind to us and, although we started off indoors by mapping the bar area whilst the snow melted, we soon moved outside to deliver practical coaching exercises.

Are you a junior who loves the idea of planning but are not sure where to start? An INVOC junior planner from the last series of SOA planning workshops contributed to planning the schools event below.

A 2023 series of beginner workshops is being run for juniors, 12 years or older, who have little or no planning experience. The dates are as follows:

Last weekend ScotJOS gathered in Aberfoyle for their first camp of the 2022/23 session. Despite the
rain of last week, the weather brightened and the juniors enjoyed some very technical training.

Congratulations to the following juniors who have been selected to be part of the Scottish Junior Orienteering Squad (ScotJOS) for 2022/23.

The ScotJOS team are looking forward to working with the new squad members to support their orienteering development and we hope to have a lot of fun along the way as well as plenty of hard work.    

The Scottish Schools Festival will take place Wednesday 1st June at Scone Palace, by Perth . A treat in store for all who make it along.

Recently I posted about the trophy below. This shows past winners from students at Glasgow, St. Andrews, Heriot Watt and Aberdeen Universities as well as Edinburgh. Only Edinburgh has a strong club today and Aberdeen also has a presence but beyond that, there is little university orienteering action in Scotland.

Where have they all gone? What has changed? Can we turn this around?
