As part of the ‘Increasing Participation’ project overseen by Clyde Gateway, SOA once again ran 3 sessions for families and newcomers during the school Easter holidays at Cuningar Loop Woodland Park in Glasgow. SOA were linked in with Clyde Gateway by SportScotland, however we wanted to make sure that this work carried out provided a link into STAG and their events as well as raising the profile of orienteering. The project involves multiple sports and aims to get more local people active and using the local park.

What a way to start the 2023 Compass Point Scottish Orienteering League (SOL)! There was snow, some great terrain (albeit the snow hid some of the marshes a little too well) and the sun even deigned to show its face after a cold start at Errochty.

Well they say that the sun shines on the righteous.  The forecast for Sunday did not portend well and most who travelled to Cumbernauld had a damp journey there but the sun emerged in time for the 2022 Scottish Score Championships!  

The 2022 Scottish Inter-Clubs Championship continued its successful campaign, with events in Inverness and Cumbernauld over the last two weekends.

With many of the top athletes occupied at the British Championships in Buckinghamshire and the Northern Championships in Northumberland, there was an opportunity for those who remained at home to boost their points total, as INVOC staged a regional forest race at Craig Leach, followed by STAG’s Scottish Urban Orienteering League fixture in western Cumbernauld.
