SOA signs Mental Health Charter for Physical Activity & Sport
Scottish Orienteering has become a signatory of Scotland’s Mental Health Charter for Physical Activity and Sport, which aims to make physical activity and sport more accessible to people with mental health problems, from grassroots groups to professional clubs.
Funded by Comic Relief, the purpose of the Charter is to use the collective power of physical activity and sport to create positive, lasting change in mental health and wellbeing.
Fiona Keir, Chief Executive Officer for Scottish Orienteering, said of the charter: “mental health problems can impact anyone from those not taking part in any sport right up to elite athletes and in signing the charter we’re showing anyone in the orienteering community that our sport is here to help them.
“We want everyone to know how truly inclusive the sport is and we’re proud to have signed the charter.”
