Scottish Disability Sport Week- FVO at Donaldson’s Trust
As you may be aware this week is Scottish Disability Sport week. Earlier this week we highlighted some of the work SOA have been doing in support of Disability Sport week. Clubs including Forth Valley Orienteers have also been busy supporting disability sport.

FVO have been working alongside the Donaldson’s Trust (The National Body for Neurodiversity, providing supported education and care for children and young adults). Orienteering has many benefits both mentally and physically and can be a great learning experience for neurodivergent people. The project is designed to work with the school creating a variety of resources that the teachers will learn how to use so that when we come to run some sessions with the children they can be active in the teaching and learning process. Some of these special resources include a picture style/ more realistic map, a permanent course with different designed plaques and different scale maps. One of the aims of this project is to work along with the trust to gain an understanding of how FVO can develop their events and activities to be more welcoming and inclusive to those with neurodiversity.
