Everyone at the SOA would like to wish good luck to all the Scottish orienteers making the long trip south to this weekend’s Jan Kjellström International Festival of Orienteering 2019, as well as those staying north for Tayside Orienteers’ “Not the JK”, near Perth.

Many thanks to everyone who spared time to respond to the survey on the inaugural Scottish Middle Distance Championships. We had 74 responses, of which 66 were from individuals who participated at Birnam – a very impressive response rate of 29.7%.

Anyone looking to take part in this year’s Scottish Orienteering Championships can now enter via SiEntries, as entries for the 2019 Individual and Relay Championships are now open.

As from the 1st April 2019 Forestry Commission Scotland and Forest Enterprise Scotland no longer exist.

The embargoes in place for the 2022 World Orienteering Championships in Edinburgh have been updated to add two new areas and access rules.

Barrhill Plantation hosted the Regional Schools Orienteering Championships at the end of March.

The inaugural Scottish Middle Distance Championships were held over Birnam Hill east on Saturday 30th March.

Controls are now out for this season’s Regular Orienteering Mapping Programme (ROMP) around the National Orienteering Centre at Glenmore Lodge.

Families and members of the Inverness Company, part of 1 Highlanders Army Cadet Force, enjoyed their first tastes of orienteering last weekend as the sport was on show at Highland Adventure Fest in Inverness.

Clubs wanting to gain the latest development funds from the SOA have until Sunday 31 March to express interest, and are encouraged to contact their Regional Development Officer as soon as possible.
