Janice Nesbit awarded the Service to Orienteering Award

It was announced by Jonathan Molloy at the SOA 2026 Annual General Meeting that the Service to Orienteering Award was being awarded to Janice Nesbit of Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Association (ESOC). The Service to Orienteering Award was previously known as the President’s Award but following the re-organisation of the SOA Board and there being no current President, it has been renamed as the Service to Orienteering Award.

Janice Nesbit has for over 10 years acted as the Scotland’s Veteran Home International (VHI) team manager and after this year’s (2026) event will be handing over her role to the joint team of Kirsten Strain (Auld Reekie Orienteering Society- AROS) and Vicky Thornton (Forth Valley Orienteers – FVO). The SOA Board are very grateful for her efforts over the years to promote the event and eoften be part of the .

The award together with flowers and cards showing the appreciation of the SOA Board and those who have been part of the VHI team over Janice’s time as manager was presented to Janice by Kirsten Strain (one half of the new VHI management team) after an ESOC Ladies Monday run. Thank you Janice.
