Fledgling orienteers get taster in Lossiemouth
More than 65 students from St. Gerardines’ and Hythehill Primary schools joined Moravian Orienteers in Lossiemouth on Wednesday for a full day of fun, constructive and challenging activities.
For many of the students it wasn’t their first go at orienteering and certainly will not be their last. The Primary 7 students eagerly engaged themselves in the day and definitely enjoyed the games and courses put on by their local club.
Two MOR stars, Mairi Weir and Kathryn Barr, added to the pool of volunteers. These two young women are key examples of grass roots development as they both started orienteering through the local school’s league 10 years ago, before heading onto become stars of the Scottish & British orienteering scene.
You never know what steps it will take to enthuse young people to jump onboard the orienteering wave. Today was a start for some!
