Event officials courses

Clubs are always looking for more volunteers to take on event official roles and help spread the load. Would you like to help out but don’t know where to start? Our accessible courses, run by experts are all designed to help ease you into new volunteering roles in a non threatening learning environment.

Planners

For those of you who love maps, our planning course will guide you through the planning process from TD1 to 5. For those unfamiliar with course planning software, the course starts with an optional guide to using Condes/Purple Pen. This is then followed by 4 progressive workshops with exercises in between. At each stage you will receive feedback and support to improve your planning along with hints and tips from the experts. The next course runs over the following dates:

  • Monday 4th November – Condes/Purple Pen
  • Monday 11th November – Workshop 1
  • Monday 18th November  – Workshop 2
  • Monday 27th November  – Workshop 3
  • Monday 2nd December – Workshop 4
  • Junior workshops will be run in the spring but older juniors are welcome to attend these

Organisers

For those of you who like working with people, organising is a satisfying job. Our variety of courses will equip you to deal with either Grade D, local events, or something a bit more ambitious.

The following courses are available:

  • ESW & Organiser workshops 2nd Nov 2024, Grantown – a whole day including organiser and event safety workshops that will equip you to organise a Level C event
  • Organising Demystified March 10th & 31st, online – 2 workshops with home tasks in between that will deal with organising a Level D event.
  • ESW & Organiser workshops as above – Spring, central belt – date and exact venue tbc

Event Safety Workshops

All Event Officials need to complete an Event Safety and Welfare workshop which guides you through the steps required to run a safe, enjoyable event. We offer in person or online workshops. The following are planned but please contact us if you need one either for your club or as an individual.

  • Wednesday 23rd October – in person, Edinburgh
  • Monday 9th December, online
  • Monday 10th February, online
