ESW & Planners’ workshops – autumn / winter 2025/26

Planners and future planners – we have offerings for you as well. Our tried and tested Planners’ workshops series ( adult and junior) are being run again this winter by Colin Eades and his team of trainers. In addition we are delighted to say that some experts have volunteered to give existing and new planners the benefit of their experience by hosting 3 planners discussions. We also have a range of ESWs to suit all. All these workshops are free to SOA members.

The workshops and discussions we have on offer this autumn / winter are as follows:

Junior Planning workshops Nov 2025

This series of online workshops is for juniors who have no planning experience or have just started out in planning and want to know more.  It will run across the following dates:

  1. Monday 3rd November  – Optional Condes/Purple Pen workshop
  2. Monday 10th   November  – Workshop 1
  3. Monday 17th  November   – Workshop 2 
  4. Monday 24th   November  – Optional TD3/4 workshop

Let’s Get Started in Planning workshops (adults) Jan 2026

This series of workshops is for those who have no planning experience or have just started to plan and want to know more.  Although these workshops are aimed at adults, juniors may attend if they cannot make the junior workshops. It will run across the following dates:

  1. Monday 19th  January 2026
  2. Monday 26th  January  2026
  3. Monday 2nd  February 2026
  4. Monday 9th February  2026

Please register using the form by 15th December 2025 to allow us time to allocate trainers.

Planners’ Discussions  2025/26

For this coming winter we have twisted the arms of some experienced planners to share their knowledge and answer your questions, enabling you to broaden your knowledge of the planning process. 

These discussions are open to all including juniors.   The whole series is as follows but each one has a separate sign up form:

  1. Urban Planning for safety – 27th October   (Lindsey Knox and Graeme Ackland)
  2. Eavesdropping on the planners thought process – 1st December (Clive Masson)
  3. Experiences of a rookie S6Ds planner – 23rd February (Peter McLuckie)

The discussions will be held on Zoom from 7:30pm to 9pm with a presentation followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions. More information on the sign up forms.
