Countdown to the 2026 World Masters Mountain Bike Orienteering Champs has begun

Our former chair and keen Mountain Bike Orienteer, Keith Dawson, attended the 2025 World Masters Mountain Bike Orienteering Championship in Mercia where the IOF flag was handed over to him by Ursula Hausermann, the Mountain Trail Bike Orienteering commission chair. He was receiving the flag on behalf of the Scottish Orienteering Association as organiser of the 2026 World Master Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships.

The 2026 World Master Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships are taking place between 8th to 14th September 2026 and are being based around the floral town of Forres in the north of Scotland.

Keith was also lucky enough to see his wife, Karena Hanley of Edinburgh Southern Orienteering Club (ESOC) win two bronzes in the W60 category in the Middle and Long and a silver in the Sprint race. Well done Karena and the maps below give you a taster of the challenge involved in the Sprint event.
