Scottish Juniors say thank you to Judy Bell who retires as ScotJOS Manager

After 6 years in post as Scottish Junior Orienteering Squad (ScotJOS) manager, Judy Bell decided it was time to step down and last Saturday’s Junior Home International was her final event in post. The Scottish juniors and their parents were keen to show their appreciation for Judy’s efforts and so keen were they that they organised not one but two celebrations!

The first celebration took place at the last ScotJOS weekend of the 2025/2026 season in Cannich where Judy was presented with a card full of comments and best wises from many of those juniors and parents who have enjoyed Judy’s stewardship of their or their offspring’s ScotJOS exploits together with a mounted Dala horse and of course as is traditional in ScotJOS a cake!

The second celebration took place at the 2026 Junior Home International hosted by Scotland at Edinchip and Lochan Spling. Fittingly Scotland won to put a sparkle on her final event! Judy was presented with a signed and mounted Scotjos top by Jon Musgrave, with whom she had lead ScotJOS until recently, an IOU for the collection for her to spend on something appropriate and a special cake with images of the 2026 ScotJOS trio to Sweden and the Scottish Team at the Junior Inter Regional Championships.

The SOA Board and team would also like to express their gratitude for all of Judy’s immense efforts over the last few years.
