October Community Conversation – Safeguarding – Let’s talk about why it is important and raise its profile!

As an organisation we take our safeguarding obligations seriously. We believe that everyone should stay safe and have fun while orienteering! Safeguarding is not just about children but applies to everyone within the SOA.

A lot of work has been going on over the last few years both by the SOA and within clubs by the Club Welfare Officers to make sure procedures and checks are in place to keep everyone safe. We will shortly be reviewing the overall safeguarding policies which apply to adults as well as children and which the procedures and guidance support.

We believe it is important that everyone knows about the policies, procedures and checks and why they are in place. As part of our community conversation series we wanted to offer the opportunity to our membership to join us to discuss safeguarding and ask any questions you may have around it.
