The INVOC Eagle weekend soars
Inverness Orienteering Club (INVOC) in conjunction with Masterplan Orienteering put on the Inverness Eagle Weekend which combined a Scottish Orienteering Urban League (SOUL) event, a World Ranking Middle distance event and a Scottish Orienteering League (SOL) into one weekend of glorious orienteering with a ceilidh as the cherry on top!
The Carse of Ardersier with its open pine forest and heathery floor set on gentle rolling contour features provided a very different technical challenge to the terrain of Glen Affric. In Glen Affric we again enjoyed mature Scottish pine forest mixed with some oak and birch sections but the terrain included steep slopes, complex contour details of a different scale from Saturday and very few paths. Slow and steady was definitely the method to ensure success in Glen Affric.
All in all a glorious weekend with cake galore thanks to the baking of the Scottish Junior Orienteering Squad (ScotJOS) and the drizzle of Sunday kept the midgies at bay thankfully!
