Hollie OrrScots picked for World Championships

Scott Fraser, Murray Strain and Hollie Orr have all been picked to run for Britain in this years World Orienteering Championships following this weekends selection races in the West of Scotland.

SEDS ready for selection race fight

Scotland’s finest elite orienteers will do battle with their counterparts from south of the border this weekend, as they fight for the right to represent Great Britain at this summers World Orienteering Championships. A sprint race on a new map of Erskine on the west side of Glasgow awaits them on Friday night, before middle and long distance races on Ardnaskie and Creag Mhic respectively over the weekend.

SEDS Selections Update

After the selection races at Touch and the Trossachs, the JK and British Middle and Sprint Championships a number of SEDS and other Scottish based athletes are celebrating selection for a variety of British teams this summer.

SEDS, camera, action!

Last weekend a group of 12 SEDS athletes, under the supervision of coach Toni Louhisola, travelled north to a snowy Aboyne where 40cm of snow had fallen during the week.

The deep snow did not scare off Scotland’s best athletes, nor did it deter BBC’s Adventure Show camera man Paul from making a trip up north to film what we orienteers get up to at the weekends.

Scotland Win SHI’s, Northern Ireland, 3/4th Oct 09

The Dominant Scottish male was much in evidence at the 2009 Senior Home Internationals, this year held in Femanagh NI on the 3rd and 4th of October. With 4 to count Scotland’s M21s took the first 4 places. With 2 to count our M20s took the first 2 places. In the relays the 3 men’s teams took 1st 2nd and 3rd places. But as we all know behind every great men’s team there is a great women’s team.
Unable to field our strongest W21s we needed the women to make sure they secured second place to a strong English team, in Saturday’s individual they did just that.
