Dundee Family Coaching: Session One Recap

Last weekend, Scottish Orienteering hosted the first of our three-part family coaching series at Balgay Park, Dundee. These sessions are aimed at families in and around Dundee, giving them the opportunity to try orienteering. With the support of Tayside Orienteers and Active Schools Dundee, we’re able to run these sessions.

We were fortunate to have lovely weather for our first session, with six families in attendance. We kicked things off with a lively game of noughts and crosses to get both minds and bodies warmed up. From there, we discussed what features we might see on an orienteering  map, followed by a map walk. Once everyone felt comfortable with orienteering maps, families had a go at some star and loop exercises, with some families even managing to tackle a course!

Next week, we’ll be delving even deeper into map features with a follow-the-line exercise. The families thoroughly enjoyed the session, and we’re looking forward to next week!
