Scottish Score Championships 2019
On Sunday 1st September 2019, STAG Orienteering will host the Scottish Score Championships on a newly extended map of Faskally Woods & Pitlochry.
Entries will go live via SI Entries on Monday 5th August – once the Strathearn 2019 Scottish 6 Days is over.
Small in size but technically & physically challenging in nature, Faskally Woods is well known to many and has hosted the Scottish Orienteering League in 2014, the Veteran Home International Relays in 2012, CompassSport Cup Scottish Final 2005, as well as several other levels of races.
The addition of the urban & parkland terrain on the north side of the River Tummel makes the venue a great option for this competition to test both those mental skills & physical fitness to the limit.
Three courses are on offer:
- Course 1 – 70 minutes M20-35, W21 TD5
- Course 2 – 60 minutes M/W16-18, W20, W35, M/W40-75+ TD5
- Course 3 – 40 minutes M/W14- TD3.
Provisional entry fees
- £4 Juniors / Unemployed
- £12 Seniors;
- £8 OAPs/Retired
Parking & map
The model used successfully to host SOL 2014, with parking within Pitlochry’s main car parks and HQ at the Scout Hall at the south-east end of Pitlochry is again being used for this event. The map has been extended by Stirling Surveys.
This means most competitors will have an approx. 2K walk to Faskally Woods on pavement and then back after their run. We do however hope to reach agreement with Forestry & Land Scotland to allow families & older competitors to park vehicles within Faskally Woods itself.
St Andrews Orienteering Club (Glasgow) – along with everyone at Scottish Orienteering – invites you to support this event.
- Organiser – Terry O’Brien, BEM (STAG)
- Planner – Gerry Thomson (STAG)
- Controller – Ian Pyrah (ESOC)
Further information will be available in August.
