SUMMARY:Child Welfare and Protection in Sport - 11th March
DESCRIPTION:This course\, approved by Children First and run by sportscotland is for all those involved in coaching\, including Foundation coaches and helpers\, or otherwise working with juniors in the club\,  e.g. chaperones on weekends away or providing First Aid cover.  All those volunteering in such capacities should have a PVG and undertake CWPS training. \nSportscotland CWPS training comprises 2 modules: \n\nModule 1– An online self-paced (approx 45 minutes) module hosted on Brightspace.  Once registered you will be sent log in details for Brightspace to allow you to complete module 1 before attending module 2.\n\n\nModule 2 – A three hour online face-to-face training course lead by one of sportscotland’s approved tutors.  Learners must complete both modules to gain the qualification and receive their certificate.\n\nOnce complete the training lasts for 3 years after which you only need to do a self-paced online renewal to last you another 3 years.\n\n\n\nCost: £10 – this may be covered by your club – please speak to your club treasurer.\nPlease register using the form by Wed 25th Feb in order to give time for Module 1 to be completed.  This also also has space to request training another time if 11th March is unsuitable.

SUMMARY:Young Coach Assistant Glenmore Lodge - 26th April

SUMMARY:Lead Coach  -  Autumn 2026 (Blended learning)

A Lead Coach can focus on a series of coaching sessions.  They understand about progressing skills from one session to the next\, using different areas and refinements to make each session useful to a range of participants. \nA Lead Coach might mentor someone working towards a Club Coach qualification. \nLead Coaches are qualified to coach on type C areas and can undertake a short workshop on “Coaching Safely in Remote Areas” to allow them to coach in areas which would otherwise require an old Level 3 qualification. \nPRE-REQUISITES:\n\nUKCC/SQCO Level 1 orienteering coach qualification or equivalent.\nCurrent member of British Orienteering\nRecent evidence of competence at TD5 usually in the form of competition result.\nPVG\, CPWS & First Aid certificate commensurate with areas to be coached in are also required for licensing.\n\nOTHER NOTES:\nQualification should normally be completed within 2 years \nMORE DETAIL & BOOKING:\nThe next course will be starting November 2026. SUMMARY:Junior Planners Workshops Nov 2026
DESCRIPTION:This series of workshops is for juniors who have no planning experience or have just started to do some planning and want to know more.  It will run across the following dates:\n\n\nMonday 2nd November – Optional Condes/Purple Pen workshop\nMonday 9th November – Workshop 1\nMonday 16th November – Workshop 2\nMonday 23rd November – Optional TD3/4 workshop\n\nThe workshops will be held on Zoom and run from 7:30pm to 9pm; it is expected that delegates will attend both workshops 1 and 2 and that they will have access to either Condes or Purple Pen on their computer.  Tablets / phones are not suitable for this and you will need to have uploaded and tried out your course planning software before the first workshop. There will be a planning exercise to do between each workshop date. \n\n\n\nAn optional workshop on Monday 2nd November is to ensure that learners are familiar with the basics of using either Condes or Purple Pen. It is strongly suggested that you attend this unless you are confident using course planning software. \n\nThe trainers will decide in conjunction with the learners whether to run the optional TD3/4 workshop and the date will be negotiable.\n\nCompletion of all 3 workshops\, including the accompanying homework\, followed by planning 3 courses in your club and submitting an experience log will earn you a Young Planners certificate and buff.\n\nPlease register using the Google form by Monday 20th October 2026 or email Judy with any queries.
