DESCRIPTION:INTENDED FOR:\nTeachers\, Outdoor Centre instructors\, Scout leaders etc. \nUSUAL DURATION:\nOne day (6 hours)\, or two 3-hour sessions. Tutor led\, highly practical. \nASSESSMENT:\nNot assessed \nCOST:\nFrom £49 to £70 per person (one day version) \nMIN/MAX:\n6/14 \nMAIN TOPICS:\nIntroduction to the basic skills of orienteering through indoor and outdoor activities\, and how to bring a variety of subjects to life through the medium of orienteering. \nPRE-REQUISITES:\nNo prior knowledge of orienteering is required\, but you are expected to have a basic understanding of how young people learn. \nOTHER NOTES:\nCourses are often arranged in response to local demand. \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nOn this day course you will learn how to introduce the basic skills of orienteering through indoor and outdoor activities\, and how to bring a variety of subjects to life through the medium of orienteering.  As well as offering the incentive for significant physical activity\, orienteering offers links with many areas of the curriculum which are of genuine interest to young people: \n\nEnvironmental awareness\nSpatial awareness\nMathematical calculations\nITC\nLanguage skills – learning new languages and developing existing communication skills\nTeam work\nPlanning\nProblem solving\nIndependence and self confidence\n\nThe full course is best delivered as a single 6-hour day\, but we can split it into shorter sessions if that suits your timetable better. We can also provide an extended (2-day) course in which you will also learn how to take the orienteering beyond the confines of school or centre grounds. We pride ourselves on adjusting the scope to meet the needs of attendees. \nCourses are taught by our qualified\, experienced and enthusiastic tutors\, at various locations throughout Scotland\, often on “in-service” days. Although we schedule some dates well in advance\, we’re always happy to add more! DESCRIPTION:INTENDED FOR:\nQualified coaches \nUSUAL DURATION:\n1 day (6 hours approx.) \nASSESSMENT:\nNot assessed \nCOST:\nUsually no charge\, though in particular cases there might be a small charge to cover costs. Lunch is provided. \nMIN/MAX:\n2/20 \nMAIN TOPICS:\nEach session covers a specific topic (or two) relevant to orienteering coaching. This session will cover how to provide technical sessions for mixed ability groups. \nPRE-REQUISITES:\nOrienteering coach qualification and experience \nOTHER NOTES:\nQualified coaches are required to attend and log CPD (Continuing Personal Development) sessions\, which might be generic (e.g. those run by UK Coaching) or orienteering-specific. Attending any of these one-day sessions will earn you 3 points on your BOF CPD log. If you organise and lead one of the sessions\, you earn double points!\nYou should also log learning achieved through interaction with other coaches\, reading and studying online resources. \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\nProviding technical sessions for mixed ability groups
