SUMMARY:Scottish Level 1 Coach (L1C)
DESCRIPTION:Previously known as UKCC coach qualifications\, we now have our own Scottish Coach Qualifications which are fully accredited by the SQA\, and are comprehensive and practical courses relevant for coaching in a Scottish context. \nINTENDED FOR:\nCapable orienteers \nUSUAL DURATION:\nApprox. 6 hours home study\, then 2 days of tuition and assessment \nASSESSMENT:\nMerged with tuition days;  short written tasks and observed coaching delivery \nCOST:\n£250 per person. Subsidy may be available from sportscotland; check your eligibility and apply via their website. \nMIN/MAX.:\n4/10 \nMAIN TOPICS:\nLevel 1 is the “Assistant Coach”\, usually working with a more qualified coach though sometimes delivering a session alone after having received guidance from a more qualified coach. The focus of the Level 1 coach is the single session\, usually progressing a skill within the session. Any progression from one session to the next would be under the direct supervision of a more qualified coach. \nTraining for Level 1 comprises some independent learning before the tuition and assessment. Most Level 1 courses assume learners have completed CF\, in which case the tuition and assessment are completed over 2 days\, usually a weekend. Occasionally a 3-day course is arranged\, covering the full tuition\, practice and assessment\, as well as the independent learning beforehand. \nPlease read the document below for full details and list of pre-requisites. \n\nPRE-REQUISITES:\n\nAttendance at Coaching Foundation course\nParticipants must be aged 17 or over; evidence of competence at orienteering at TD4 or above\nCurrent member of British Orienteering\n\nOTHER NOTES:\n*Exact dates and venue to be confirmed.* \nMORE DETAIL & BOOKING:\nQualification awarded by SQA. Book online here\, or contact us for further information.
