Young Orienteer of the Year

To celebrate 2018 as the Year of Young People, we are very happy to launch the Young Orienteer of the Year Award! The award is open to all our junior members, and we'd like to hear about how they've contributed to orienteering, in any way. This is to recognise your wonderful volunteers who contribute to making events happen, help run club sessions, get friends and family involved... the list is endless!

Deadline for nominations is 5pm on 4th May, and prize-giving will be at the Scottish Individual Championships in the Highlands on 26th May.

Good luck to all!

The Young Orienteer of the Year Award is open to all junior members of the Scottish Orienteering Association.

We know there are lots of juniors involved in orienteering across Scotland who are contributing to the sport in many ways, helping it to grow and develop... and we want to hear about them!

For example, there might be somebody you know who has volunteered at every club event this year, or who has helped to plan activities, or who has tried to encourage their friends to join in, or who helps to run the results/timing systems. The list is endless!

Year of Young People 2018 provides a platform to promote and celebrate the talents, achievements and contributions of Scotland’s incredible young people. Activities and opportunities all over Scotland are supporting a greater space for young people to contribute in areas like education, culture, and health and wellbeing. Read more here:

If you would like to nominate somebody, please fill in the simple online form before 5pm on Friday 4th May. Anybody can nominate anybody (juniors can nominate each other!)

The Young Orienteer of the Year Trophy will be presented at the Scottish Individual Championships at Achagour on Saturday 26th May.

Good luck to all!
