World Schools’ Orienteering Championship 2017

Palermo, Sicily 22-28 April

Teams from  Aboyne Academy, Banchory Academy and George Heriots School joined by ten other athletes selected from throught Scotland are in Italy for the International School Sport Federation World Schools' Championship. 

The best results in Monday's Long race are Matthew Gooch (Aboyne Academy) who won M2 school class and Peter Molloy who was 3rd in M2 select class.

Looking at Winsplits one only imagine how complex the area was as very few of the 650 runners had clean runs.

Tuesday is the unique Friendship Relay in which ad hoc teams have to work together,  even if there is no common (spoken) language.

Competition concludes on Thursday with the Middle Distance race.
