World Orienteering Championships 2022

The Scottish Orienteering 6-Day Event Company, along with the bid partners of the Scottish Orienteering Association, EventScotland and the City of Edinburgh Council are submitting a bid on behalf of British Orienteering to stage the World Orienteering Championships 2022.  As part of the bid embargos take effect from the 1st April 2018.

Embargos apply to all potential WOC 2022 team members (runners, team leaders, coaches, doctors, etc.) as well as to all others with strong links to elite squads.  For such people:

  • No organised orienteering of any kind may take place in the embargoed areas until after WOC 2022
  • No orienteering training sessions, i.e. running/races, testing route choices etc. are allowed in these areas·     
  • Access is permitted in the embargoed areas until further notice, however use of  orienteering maps is not allowed in these areas

Maps of the proposed areas can be viewed here and will also be published on the British Orienteering website.

Embargo status will be reviewed during the bid evaluation process by the IOF.
