Moravian are hosting the event this year on Sunday 26th November, and are promising competitors a memorable event that will justify making the journey. The courses will be in Quarrelwood, a hilly area of ancient woodland on the Western outskirts of Elgin. The forest contains pockets of extremely complex old quarry areas. Whatever the weather Moravian promises you warmth and comfort before and after your run as the Event Centre will be in the adjacent Eight Acres Hotel that has hosted events for the club so well in the past.
Anyone browsing results for Moravian and INVOC events in the past few years can’t fail to have noticed a huge amount of juniors taking up orienteering in the North. Orienteering has become a massively popular sport amongst the young people of Moray. The club would like to encourage other clubs to bring as many of their junior members as possible to experience the “Moray buzz” that a big turnout of young people always brings to the club’s events. To make the event as inclusive as possible, shadowing will be allowed on the 40-minute course for M/W14s and under, although shadowed children will not be eligible for prizes.
Seniors, of course, will be just as well catered for, with the normal 70-minute class for M21/35s and W21s, and a 60-minute class for everyone else.
The Score Championships has always been the poor cousin of the Scottish Championship series but with your help Moravian intend to make this year’s competition one to remember. Entries will remain open until Tuesday 21st November. At a cost of only £9 (seniors) and £4 (juniors) this is about as affordable as a championship event ever gets.
