To celebrate the new permanent orienteering course at Culbokie (Black Isle) there is a Come and Try It event planned for Saturday 25th August. The local Community Trust received funding from the BIG Lottery Fund and Highland Council and it was very much their initiative. Thanks go to INVOC who helped with control sites and mapper Steve Smirthwaite.
Remember there are other opportunities for orienteering on permanent courses and seasonal courses (Glenmore and Loch Vaa). The British Orienteering POC pages are a good place to look for opportunities.

We all know that orienteering relies hugely on members as volunteers for so many aspects of the sport, so it’s only right that we should acknowledge your dedication and commitment, and help you gain and develop the skills that particularly interest you. Since 2013 we’ve been running Volunteers’ Weekends roughly every couple of years, and feedback from each has helped us refine subsequent offerings.
We’re proud to launch a brand new practical training course for 14-17 year olds who love orienteering, and want to help run events and activities so others can love it too!
As part of the Year of Young People 2018, the first course is free and will take place on Saturday 22 September at Bell’s Sports Centre, Perth.
