We are recruiting: SOA Competitions Coordinator

Would you like to be part of shaping the future of SOA competitions? Would you like to be involved in delivering a quality program of annual events? If so, we invite you to apply for the volunteer post of SOA Competitions Coordinator.

The Competitions Coordinator will, as an early priority, take the lead on reviewing the current Competition Calendar. The scope of the review is broad and offers a genuine opportunity to positively impact the structure, timing, and delivery of future SOA competitions for the benefit of all the SOA membership.

We need to consider a broad range of questions to evolve how we plan and deliver our annual events calendar. Do we have the right balance of competitions? Is the timing of our SOA national events ideal? Do we put on too many or too few competitions? How well do SOA events line up with BOF and international events? Do we provide an effective progression through competitions of different levels? Does our competition calendar provide a performance pathway for our junior and senior athletes? Are we meeting the needs of both elite and non-elite orienteers in Scotland? What quality of mapping, planning, and organisation should we expect at different levels of competition?  Do the current competition rules and guidelines help or hinder putting on events?

The current job description can be viewed in the attachment, however this can be modified given the right candidate and how their skills and experience can best contribute to the success of our future SOA competitions.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity further please note your interest with Keith Roberts at operations@scottish-orienteering.org who will be happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have.
