Tutor Update day 16 February 2013
All tutors of UKCC and Teaching Orienteering courses in Scotland are invited to an update day on Saturday 16 February 2013.
In line with the “Tutors” section of the SOA Coaching Plan, we will be running an update session on Saturday 16 February 2013 for all tutors of UKCC and Teaching Orienteering courses in Scotland. All qualified (and near-qualified) tutors are invited to attend, whether you have actually taught the courses or not. The session will be held in the classroom at Kinnoull Hill, near Perth. It will be indoors only, or outside on the hard standing immediately adjacent to the classroom. There will be no orienteering map available.
The main themes of the day will be to explore and develop the role of tutor as FACILITATOR, and to share RESOURCES.
Such update sessions are important to ensure that we maintain consistent approaches to these courses, and keep up good standards of tuition. They also allow us to share good ideas, and we firmly believe we can always learn from other tutors. In addition, British Orienteering are making some changes to the standard course, we have a useful new handout about links with Curriculum for Excellence, and I think most of you will benefit from a reminder of admin procedures.
Please e-mail me to book your place. If you can’t attend this update session, and haven’t attended a BOF UKCC/TO tutor orientation or update session within the last 2 years, an Internal Verifier will sit in on the next course you deliver, and you will need a 1-to-1 update beforehand.
There will be no charge for attendance at the session, but you will be liable for meeting your own travel expenses, as this session is an enabler to earning income (for most of you).
