Doing Talk-o with Bodil so she can see how I think when I orienteer for the first half Scores on the doors: Plan 75% Direction 50% and Picture 55% I think I oversimplified and feel I need to at night. Especially looking at route at the start of one to two!

Last session of the weekend kept it short to not completely wear out achilles. Most focussed session of the weekend not always succesful. Good controls I had a plan and agood direction and good picture of the control circle. Ones that didn't go so well lacked a good direction or picture of the circle.

Hesitant and not making plans ahead but had a plan for each leg and looked up and saw what I wanted. Only exception was leaving 6 - I hadn't fully decided how much of the course to do, but I felt good so decided to continue to 7 however I hadn't really thought of my plan - where I wanted to go or how I would get there so I just blindly went vaguely in the right direction for 100m before getting a grip and decided to find the path. I slightly missed at the end of the leg on 7 too, I should have planned to aim slightly right of the control and know what I would see on the slope not being a little bamboozled when I got there. In this terrain I feel the plan and description is really required and picking a good line in the terrain with the help of the compass as guidance rather than needing only compass. I wonder if left would have been faster to 11?

Struggled to focus on the orienteering at first. Wasn't making good plan or pictures. After missing two I made both plans and picture and got my head up looking for features, this terrain is beautifully visible right now, and things went better.

Nice to be back in South England running hard and testing compass real head up orienteering. Started a bit out of joint but did get more into it. Time lost in the last 10-15% of legs I think.

A good effort in this race! Attacked hard but still felt hesitant on 2,3, 4,9, 15 and 16 while made maybe slight direction/route mistakes on 10 and 14. I think I panic a little and hesitate when I don't have a full enough plan so maybe should have a better thought process if needed.

In some ways a good race I was smooth in and out of 85% of the controls. I was in control of my emotions for once, I made a big mistake but I stayed calm and didn't let it disturb the rest of my race. Yes 4 was a disaster I didn't compensate for going round the hill near the start of the leg or have a good enough picture of the control to just run on my compass. I made a couple of bananas which I didn't notice at the time and aren't major but aren't the most effective route and 18 I didn't have a good enough picture of the control or good enough plan at the end of my leg so I dropped down one hill to early and got a little confused. However to focus on the good bits I felt calm at the start of the race in control of my emotions and focussed throughout. I made positive decisions and kept my head up throughout. To be honest it's not quite the result I wanted, quite a way down on the winners but it is a start and somethings will get better through doing some more races this spring - quicker decision making, flowing through the controls, the race terrain speed that I can stay in control of my technque at.

Was trying to keep my mind focussed on what it was doing as noticed that actually most time loss is when you stand still at a control no idea where you are exactly so focus on what I am doing and where I am seeing. This also comes from this mornings sprint where I have no idea what I was thinking about half the time. When I am orienteering it should be on orienteering. Focus was good to start but 12 triggered a loss in focus and 14 I just wanted to keep moving but I didn't know where I was. SO i re ran the leg later instead of 17 and 18.

Loved this though possible not that great for me as using my compass to stay online rather than just the features is somehing to practise. But as we were told at the weekend play to your strengths... so this is it, improvin looking up identifying features etc. APologies for map quality just using the camera on my phone.

Completely unsubjectively - that was so much fun, an amazing area for long racing. Looking ay my analysis I was happy with most of the controls and the ones where I wasn't happy I generally didn't have a good picture of the end of the leg and lost focus a little.
