Scottish Sprint Championships 2013
SOUL 2, Aberdeen
Congratulations to all our new Scottish Sprint Orienteering Champions. GRAMP produced a challenging days sprint racing on Saturday 6 April with two races on quite different areas of Aberdeen, with the combined times counting towards both the Sprint Championship and the 2nd race in this year’s Urban League series.
The format of a reverse chasing start meant for some hectic head to head racing in the afternoon's race around the University, requiring speed skill and focus to remain on track. Perhaps unsurprisingly Interloper's Murray Strain took the Men's elite prize by some distance. Sadly for Tessa Hill (HOC) despite her many sterling qualities, being Scottish isnt one of them, so her win in the women's elite race meant that 2nd placed Jo Shepherd of EUOC picked up the medal as Scottish Champion. Murray and Tessa stayed around to hand out the prizes which was much appreciated by the rest of the winners.
Many thanks to GRAMP for putting on such a challenging and exciting event within a relatively short notice period.
