SOL 3, Mark Hill, Apr 12

Compass Point Scottish Orienteering League

Results from Mark Hill, near Dalbeattie, are now available on the Solway Orienteers website

The event will be held at Mark Hill, near Dalbeattie, which was first mapped in 1979 and used as the training area for JK80. It was subsequently largely felled and replanted following severe gale damage in the early eighties. The forest is now reaching maturity and a new DOLM map is being produced. Like Faskally in 2014, this event will be Middle Distance for M/W21E only. It is also being used by regional junior squads for summer training camp selection.
As CompassPoint SOL3 falls squarely between the JK in the Lake District and the British Long Distance and Relay Championships weekends it was thought that early notification was important to allow competitors to plan their competition schedule for this busy period. The favoured location for the assembly area means that there are parking constraints and attention is drawn to the planned special travel and parking arrangements outlined in the preliminary details. To allow time for map printing, junior start time seeding and finalising parking and minibus scheduling there is an earlier than usual closing date of Sunday 29 March 2015.
We look forward to a good turnout in the South West in this exciting year for Orienteering in Scotland.
