Autumn Training Bonanza 13th September - 20 October.  Controls are now out in 5 excellent areas:  Achlean, Alvie, Uath Lochan, Strathmashie and Roseisle.  The same controls will be used 28 December 2008 - 15 January 2009.

Scotland win VHIs

The Scottish team won the Veterans’ Home Internationals held in Northern Ireland over the weekend 4&5 October.
The individuals finished with Scotland 4 points ahead of England and after an exciting conclusion to the relays the final scores were Scotland 269 England 267.

Coaching Scheme - update October 2008

Work on the new British Orienteering coaching structure has been continuing across recent months, and the first offerings of the new Level 1 course have taken place in England.  As previously announced, Scotland’s first UKCC Level 1 Orienteering Coach course will be held at Glenmore Lodge on 18-20 October.

Ward Junior Home Internationals

These were held on Ainsdale Dunes in Lancashire, 20/21 September.  Scotland won the Individual event in a very close competition, beating England by just 2 points. Results on the Meroc website.

WANTED — Controllers of all Grades

If you are an enthusiastic orienteer and want to improve your skills, have you considered becoming a controller? Even though you may not be a super-fast competitor, controlling provides an excellent opportunity for sharpening up your map interpretation and navigational skills.
