Specialist Coach CPD sessions will be available on 6 & 7 November, at Glenmore Lodge:

  • Friday 6th November 18:30 – 21:30 – Psychological Needs of Orienteering:  this covers analysis of the required mental skills and how a coach might plan interventions to develop the required mental skills for both training and competition

  • Saturday 7th November 09:00 – 11:00 – Lifestyle, Nutrition and Anti-Doping:  to help coaches understand how to integrate training into the athlete's wider lifestyle, and the basic principles of sports nutrition

  • Saturday 7th November 11:30 – 18:30 (double session) – Physical Conditioning PLUS Planning & Periodisation:  athlete profiling, training principles, fitness development, plans for long, medium and short timescales, goal-setting and much more!

These sessions form part of the UKCC Level 3 course, and are open to orienteering coaches at BOF Level 3 or UKCC L2 (or working towards that), who are members of SOA clubs.  Places are limited to 4 per session, so booking is essential.  A fee of £20 per person per session will be payable (double fee for the double session).   These course fees are non-residential though refreshments will be provided, as well as a buffet lunch during the double session on the Saturday.

For you to get maximum benefit from these sessions, there is some pre-course work, which you will be expected to complete.  You should allow at least one week to complete this, so bookings will close on 30th October 2015.
