SOA Sports Science Co-ordinator Appointed
I am delighted to report that Adam Hunter has agreed to take on the role as SOA Sports Science Co-ordinator.
This is great news for Scottish Orienteering. Adam will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience with him and will be working closely with ScotJOS and SEDS to help our athletes achieve the best possible success. Adam will meet the team at the next SEDS weekend in Edinburgh on the 12th March where he will give a presentation. We wish Adam all the best in his new position.
Here is what Adam has to say;
I have worked at the Australian Institute of Sport as a sport scientist for the last 8 years, predominantly working with the Australian kayaking and sailing teams. I have been a keen orienteer for more than ten years, competing in several formats including rural, urban, mountain bike orienteering and rogaining events up to 24 hours in length. I am also a keen adventure racer, combining my love of navigating with some of my favourite sports (running, mountain biking and kayaking) in teams of up to 4 people.
As the sport science coordinator for the SOA I hope to bring some of my sport science expertise to assist the elite squads in performing at their best in competition as well as providing general sport science advice to all members to improve their orienteering experience.
