Scots Sprint to Victory

Hollie Orr (EUOC), Claire Ward (ESOC) and Murray Strain (INT) take away the first British medals up for grabs this year in the British Elite Sprint and Middle Distance Championships.

All 3 claimed their first British Championship wins taking gold in the Sprint and Middle distances.

After a succession of top 5’s in the British Sprint Championships for Strain and a debut in the British team for the World Champs last year Strain finally managed to out sprint the field to take his first ever gold medal in the British Elite Championships.

Orr also added what looks like her first of many British medals to her name with a 1st in the Sprint and 3rd in the Middle. Having spent her winter in Halden (Norway), training with one of the best clubs in the world, Orr appears to be running better than ever and I am sure will not go unnoticed this season.

After having spent the last few years away from the sport on maternity leave Ward is back! Destroying the womens field in the middle race to take victory by over 1 minute Ward looks to be in the shape of her life. Watch this space!

Congratulations also to James Ackland (M12 INT, Sprint and Middle), Sasha Chepelin (M14 GRAMP, Sprint) and Ray Ward (M35 ESOC, Sprint) who are also all newly crowned British Age Class Champions.
