Scottish O League 5, Cambus O May, 11th Sep

Results on the MAROC website.

Cambus O’May is a great orienteering area of complex contours with many rock features. As a result of capercaillie presence, the courses will use the main part of the map on the relatively gently sloping floor of the Dee valley. This area contains many interesting moraine features and is predominantly fast running through undulating mature birch and pine woodland. Open areas, e.g. under power lines, are being invaded by bracken. There has been extensive thinning this year. This has resulted in brashings in many parts of the map and also several new extraction lanes – only the biggest are marked on the map which has been updated in 2011. As a result of a rather damp summer in Deeside, many of the marshy areas currently look more like ponds.”
