Scotjos Development Weekend, Feb 2011

The Scottish Junior Squad held their inaugural training weekend of the year at Kinnoull Hill (Saturday) and Barr Wood (Sunday) in sunny but cold weather. A total of 43 juniors took part – all of the 2011 squad plus an additional invited group.

There were also a total of 18 adult coaches over the two days meaning that coaching could be in small groups.  The focus was on basic technique at TD4 for the younger ones, and racing at TD5 for the older ones.

With overnight accommodation in Stirling Youth Hostel, this was a good social weekend with opportunities for the juniors to meet up with old friends after the winter as well as making new ones. Social activities on Saturday evening included presentation of the 2010 SOL trophies.
We also made use of the fact that the youth hostel was on the Stirling Old Town map with an early morning sprint race before heading off to Barr Wood on Sunday.

Thanks to TAY and FVO for the use of their areas.

Well done to all the juniors for working so hard over the weekend and for the compliments on their behaviour from the non-orienteering inhabitants of the youth hostel and many thanks to all the adults who helped us.
