Mapping Co-ordinator appointed

Scottish Orienteering has a new Mapping coordinator, Graeme Ackland (INT). Graeme is a former Competitions Convenor and SOA Executive Member, and amateur mapper. He will be responsible for:
* Completing the Mapping Strategy
* Maintaining and developing the SOA map portfolio.
* Encouraging and assisting clubs to use SOA maps for events or training.
* Arranging copyright transfer of maps from SOA to clubs.
* Helping clubs to assess possible new areas for SOA-funded mapping.
* Handling any SOA mapping projects in the future
The mapping portfolio of the SOA and its member clubs is seen as one of the key assets of Scottish Orienteering – without maps there would be no events. So the SOA has established a Mapping Policy designed to ensure the mapping portfolio is managed in a way that reflects its importance. The Mapping Stratagy can be downloaded here, SOA_Mapping_Strategy_2007_08_31_draft.pdf
Graeme brings a wealth of experience to the role and combined with his enthusiasm will undoubtedly prove to be a successful appointment.
