Junior Inter-Regional Championships 2007
The Scottish juniors were narrowly beaten into second place by the Yorkshire and Humberside Squad at the weekend. The competition between the 12 Regions took place in north Yorkshire, with the Individual on Saturday being held on the very fast limestone pavement of Malham Moor, the fastest running just over 5 mins/k. Yorkshire held an overnight lead over Scotland of just 4 points.
The Relays on Sunday took place on the rougher wooded hillside of Danefield and made for exciting competition with relatively short courses and a spectator control. The Scottish girls took 1st and 4th places, with Yorkshire 2nd and 5th. However, this was not enough to overcome Yorkshire, who took 1st and 2nd places in the men’s race, with Scotland 3rd and 5th. In the overall competition Yorkshire won by just 13 points, 492 points to Scotland’s 479. East Midlands were 3rd with 380. Scotland won the Women’s Trophy for the second year in succession and the Scottish boys were second to Yorkshire.
There will be a full report in the next issue of Score.

I just thought i’d leave a comment on how much i enjoyed the JIRCS.
It was my first ever Jircs and i became lucky enough to go (i was a reserve). I really enjoyed although we did not win :( and i am thrilled to be going to the JHI’s in NI at the end of september!
Thanks
