JK2012 being staged in Highland Perthshire

British Orienteering and the Scottish Orienteering Association are pleased to confirm that the 2012 Jan Kjellstrom International Orienteering Festival will be staged in West Lothian & Highland Perthshire over the Easter weekend.
This will be the 45th JK and the 5th occasion that it will have been held in Scotland.

The event starts on Friday April 6th with the sprint in Livingston and then moves north with individual days on Dunalastair and Craig a Barns. The event culminates with the JK Trophy Relays on Monday April 9th at Newtyle Hill, Dunkeld.

Dave Peel, British Orienteering Event manager said:

Preparations for the event are well underway and I look forward to working closely with Colin Matheson, SOA Professional Officer, on staging an event which is appealing and enjoyable for both domestic and international competitors.

Colin Matheson said:

Dave and I have already worked closely on the bid for WOC2015, and I am sure that the partnership of our two organisations will deliver another great JK during this 50th Anniversary year for Scottish Orienteering.
The main clubs in Scotland have already committed considerable time and effort (especially the planners), and this of course is a major undertaking for all Scottish orienteers following on so closely from the Scottish 6 Day Event in Oban. JK2011 is a hard act to follow, but we will do our best to stage another successful festival.

Volunteers required

The Professional Officer Colin Matheson will play a full and active role as Assistant Coordinator but volunteers are required for a number of key positions.

Coordinator required to build on the excellent preparatory work carried out by Dave Prentice.

Financial Controller to keep things on track. BOF will provide financial and accounting support e.g. expenses and paying bills, so this role is concerned more with managing budgets and forecasts.

Web Updater/Publicist to keep the BOF hosted JK website up-to-date

We would like to allocate other SOA clubs to help the named clubs and will prepare a draft list. A number of other roles that cut across the days e.g. equipment and event centre will need to be agreed and if anyone would like to be involved please contact me.
