Rosemary Matheson says:
I was feeling nervous about the Short Urban-O especially as Rhona, my son’s girlfriend agreed to learn about orienteering at ESOC’s weekend and shadow me. It was hard work but great to see parts of St Andrews not visited in many years or at all as a student. We walked and jog-trotted our way round the course and Rhona followed her map very well, helping with some route choices and fine print.
On Sunday we started off well on the Orange course. En route to Control 4 Rhona hurt her ankle in a trackside ditch. The initial pain subsided and she tried walking but it was soon obvious that this was not a good idea. Abandoning her, with her jacket and the map, in a patch of sunlight by the main track, I went to the Finish for First Aid/ transport.
Thank you very much to all involved in bringing Rhona back to the Finish/ Assembly area. She has been walking okay this week and she and Rory plan to get out next weekend: Rhona cycling whilst Rory runs!
