Disclosures and Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme
Several people have asked about renewing a disclosure which is now more than 3 years old; the news item on the Disclosure Scotland website, dated 28 November 2011 and entitled “Potential Delay in Start of Retrospective Checking”, gives as much information as we have at present. British Orienteering are aware of the effect of these issues, and coaches’ licensed status is not adversely affected by it (though automated e-mails indicate otherwise).

In summary, people with existing disclosures should NOT apply for PVG membership at this stage. Despite e-mails from BOF, coaches do NOT require a disclosure in order to be licensed; see the licensing page on the BOF website. (Clubs/squads are required by law to obtain disclosures for coaches working primarily with children.)
