Tinto Twin (inc SOL 7) 2009

This year it was held in moonlight on Saturday 31st October (night event) & torrential rain on Sunday 1st November (SOL 7) at Beecraigs and Witch Craig Wood, nr, Linlithgow, West Lothian.

Back to Back SOLs - the Scottish JK or spawn of the devil?

Some time in the last two years the SOA Board were told by the Fixtures Secretary that there were some problems getting 2009 SOLs into the calendar but that two clubs were willing to host SOLs at the same date. So it came about that we ended up with this year’s SOLs 5 and 6 being a back to back in the Aberdeenshire area.

SOL Competition rules and guidelines

The Scottish Orienteering League provides a series of high quality events   throughout Scotland throughout the season. High quality venues, maps and quality courses are the key aims. Other key objectives include: elite development and selection, encourage national level competition, act as a flagship and publicity vehicle, to create continuity of quality, and coordinate with other high-quality BOF events. Scottish O League 3, Teviothead, 7th June

Fast open soft grassy fields, intricate contours, wonderful views. Used only once before, for the 2006 Harvester and SOL. Now with 10% more boulders !

Shadowing Juniors at SOLs

In itself there is nothing wrong with shadowing and it is a very good way of helping and coaching any orienteer.  Should it be allowed at a competitive series like the SOLs?
