The Scottish Junior Squad held their first training event of the year last weekend. Accommodation was in Pitlochry Youth Hostel and training took plsce at Faskally on Saturday and The Hermitage (Dunkeld) on Sunday. With heavy snow throughout Scotland last week and many roads closed, cancellation of the weekend was on the cards, and the decision was only made to go ahead on Friday evening with the improving weather forecast and the opening of most of the main roads.

JHI Individual - Sunday 12th September - Devilla - embargoed to all those hoping to be competitive in the JHI
There will also be a SoSOL at Devilla the same day. This is also likely to have an embargo too; individuals are advised to refrain from (technical) training in Devilla.

BOF, in the guise of the Junior Competitions Group, have formalised their rules concerning levy exemptions for junior-only events, although curiously the operational rules are not published anywhere I can find them.

After 10 years of coming runners-up in this competition, the Scottish team have won the 2009 Junior Inter-Regional Championships which were held in Northern Ireland at the weekend. North-West were second and Yorkshire third.

This year the JHI took place on the forested sand dunes of Newborough Forest on Anglesey in North Wales, hosted by the small Welsh club of ERYRI. The competition consists of an Individual event on Saturday followed by Relays on Sunday.

Scotjos held their annual Development Weekend on March 7/8. Over 50 juniors took part along with 18 coaches. Saturday’s training took place at Devilla and Sunday’s at Stirling Old Town followed by Touch Estate. The juniors have to be commended on working hard and without complaint (mostly) in spite of the cold, blustery weather.
