SoSOL, Barr Wood, Sun 8th Nov

An intricate area of natural woodland, open moorland and plantation with some complex contour detail offered some challenging orienteering. The bright late autumn (early winter) sun added to a good day.

Tinto Twin (inc SOL 7) 2009

This year it was held in moonlight on Saturday 31st October (night event) & torrential rain on Sunday 1st November (SOL 7) at Beecraigs and Witch Craig Wood, nr, Linlithgow, West Lothian.

Junior Inter Area Competition

The Scottish Junior Inter-area Championships consists of a relay event and an individual event between the East, North and West areas of Scotland. This year the relay event was held on 6 June 2009 at Vogrie and the individual event was held in conjunction with SOL3 at Teviothead. The overall weekend was organised by the East area and overnight accommodation was arranged at Melrose Youth Hostel. Around 70 juniors took part in the competition

Allean Knoll Kollecting

The biennial event at Allean was changed from a Boulder Bonanza to a Knoll Kollection to fit in better with SI but the reduced number of sites still provided a challenge of navigation and, paticularly, of route choice.

The organiser promised us a good day, and he was right. Some snow, but not enough to impede progress, blue sky, no wind, great views and well planned courses put a smile on faces.

EUOC’s Big Weekend

EUOC’s big weekend was a great success again this year. Fast and furious racing round the streets, a ceilidh with a packed dancefloor and tough racing on Arthur’s Seat on Sunday made it a memorable weekend – and the sun even shone both days.
