SEDS ready for selection race fight
Scotland’s finest elite orienteers will do battle with their counterparts from south of the border this weekend, as they fight for the right to represent Great Britain at this summers World Orienteering Championships. A sprint race on a new map of Erskine on the west side of Glasgow awaits them on Friday night, before middle and long distance races on Ardnaskie and Creag Mhic respectively over the weekend.
The World Championships will be held in Trondheim, Norway, in August this year. The British team will consist of up to seven men and women, with three places available in each discipline. The Trondheim terrain features tough marshes and hills which should suit the Scots and many will be aiming for places in the team. For others this weekend is a stepping stone to future years - a chance to show good form and gain selection for training camps.
Check back here next week to find out how they get on, or keep an eye on NopeSport and the British Orienteering website over the weekend for the latest results.
