Scots picked for World Championships
Scott Fraser, Murray Strain and Hollie Orr have all been picked to run for Britain in this years World Orienteering Championships following this weekends selection races in the West of Scotland.
Scott comfortably won the Sprint selection race around Erskine on Friday night and continued his good form to win the Middle distance race at Ardnaskie on Saturday before sitting out the Long race with a niggle, however he will run the Sprint and Long distance races in Trondheim in August.
Murray and Hollie will both make their WOC debuts this summer. Murray continued his consistent sprint race form on Friday night but had a nervous wait after finishing in a three way tie for third place. The wait was worth it and he will be rewarded with a chance to sprint off against the worlds best around the centre of Trondheim. Hollie meanwhile has impressed in her first season as a senior and will race over the middle distance race.
Other athletes selected with Scottish ties are Helen Bridle of ESOC (Sprint and Long), Matt Speake of Interlopers (Middle) and Jon Duncan, formerly of Gramp (Long). The relay teams will be picked nearer to the time.
The World Championships will take place in Trondheim, Norway from 8-15th August.
