Teaching Orienteering courses

The Teaching Orienteering courses (part 1 and part 2) provide excellent training for anyone wishing to introduce the sport in schools, scouts or other youth groups.  Our schedule offers these courses throughout Scotland and from this page you can download a printable publicity leaflet.  Where possible, dates will fit in with known In-Service days.

Both Teaching Orienteering courses last one day, and make excellent CPD.  The Part 1 course assumes no prior knowledge and will enable participants to introduce orienteering in an enjoyable and rewarding way.  Part 2 covers some more advanced techniques and is generally more relevant to secondary schools.  Attendance at Part 1 is a pre-requisite of Part 2.

Free follow-on support is now available to all attendees, as described in the leaflet.

The standard fees are £70 per person for Part 1 and £95 for Part 2;  for a school or other group hosting a course and supplying at least 6 participants, we offer discounts depending on the number of people on the same invoice.  Depending on location, we might also require a contribution towards the tutor's travel costs.  Please phone to discuss your requirements.

If you would like to join a course that is already advertised, please use the booking form, which also contains details of the course fees and discounts.

More detail about the courses is available on the printable leaflet, and provisional dates are on the printable schedule.  As venues and dates are finalised, this printable schedule will be updated, and they will be added to the general online course schedule.

Various resources for schools are available from the British Orienteering website - the "Schools" tab offers many useful pages.
